Batton Photos
Sally Batton enters her 24th season as head coach of the Dartmouth Equestrian Team and Director of Riding.  Since coming to Dartmouth in 1990, Batton has led the Dartmouth Equestrian team to three Ivy League titles, in 1997, 2007 and 2010 and also sent numerous Dartmouth riders to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships. In 2008, Batton was named the American Riding Instructors' Association Instructor of the Year, and is certified Level III in ARIA in Hunter Seat and Recreational Riding.

Arriving at Dartmouth from Centenary College in N.J., she was on the faculty in the Equine Studies program, and coached their IHSA team, qualifying the team for two National Championships.

Batton has served on the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Board of Directors since 1984, first as a Regional President, then chair of numerous committees, and has served as IHSA National Steward since 2001.  Batton was awarded the 2013 IHSA Lifetime Achievement Award. Serving on the Board of the American Polocrosse Association for many years, she also coached the Dartmouth Polocrosse Club. In 1990, Batton's book on the sport was published, Polocrosse: Australian Made, Internationally Played.

A 1983 graduate from Lake Erie College in Ohio, Batton earned a bachelor's degree in Equine Studies before earning a master's degree in Communications at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1989.  Sally is also the President of the IHSA Professional Horseman's Association chapter and is President and Founder of the Athletic Equestrian League.
