Big Green Tidbits
Big Green Headed to IRA National Championship -
Dartmouth will be making its 14th consecutive appearance at the national championships and is looking to improve on last season's results. Dartmouth earned an at-large berth into this year's field by placing 12th at Eastern Sprints on May 13.

Recapping 2011 IRA Sprints - At the 2011 national championship, the Big Green sent the second varsity eight and the freshman eight to the petite finals while the first varsity eight and four raced in the third level final. The Big Green's top boat took second in the third level final while the freshman eight and second varsity eight finished fifth and seventh, respectively. The four also took seventh in the third level final.         

Dartmouth Drops Packard Cup - The Big Green raced for its final cup of the regular season on May 20 when they welcomed Syracuse to the Connecticut River. The Big Green gave the Orange a run for their money in every race, but came just short in each of the four races.

Big Green Race Well at EARC Sprints - Dartmouth is coming off a solid performance at the 2012 EARC Sprints. Dartmouth placed three boats in the petite finals, while the freshman boat raced in the third level finals. The second varsity eight placed fifth while the varsity eight placed sixth. The freshman took third in their final.

CMax Rankings Released - This week's CMax rankings have the Big Green at No. 15, 18.3 seconds behind leader, Washington. The CMax rankings are used to provide a relative estimate of how fast a team is.

Big Green Concludes Season at No. 15 in USRowing Collegiate Poll - The Dartmouth heavyweight crew's first varsity eight is ranked No. 15 in the latest USRowing Collegiate Poll released on May 2. Ivy League foes, Harvard (No. 2), Brown (No. 3), Cornell (No. 7), Princeton (No. 10), Yale (No. 12), Columbia (No. 14) and Penn (No. 16) are also ranked. Additionally, Big Green opponents Wisconsin (No. 6), Boston University (No. 13) and Syracuse (No. 11) are also ranked.

Welcome to the Big Green Team - The heavyweight squad features 12 newcomers this season. The Big Green add rowers, Paul Champeau (Hillsborough, Calif.), Henry Franco (New Canaan, Conn.), Andrew Kenealy (Sudbury, Mass.), Maximilian Kinne (Longmeadow, Mass.), Stuart Maeder (Washington, D.C.), Alec Marchuk (Lake Placid, N.Y.), Richard Newsome-White (Christchurch, New Zealand) Brett Nicholas (Laguna Hills, Calif.) Bryan Rogers (Melville, N.Y.), and Robert Truesdale (Dover, Mass.). Alexander Steele (Orinda, Calif.) and Erica McGale (Irvine, Calif.) are both coxswains.

Dartmouth Opens Season Ranked No. 17 in USRowing Collegiate Poll - The Big Green, earned a No. 17 ranking in the first poll of the 2012 season released on March 28. The poll ranks the top men's varsity eights throughout the country. Harvard has the top boat while Washington, Cal, Princeton and Wisconsin round out the top five. Other league boats receiving votes are Yale at No. 6, Brown at No. 7, Cornell at No. 8, Columbia at No. 13 and Penn at No. 16.  

 Leader of the Pack - Head coach Topher Bordeau returns for his sixth season as the man in charge of the Dartmouth heavyweight crew team. Bordeau is assisted by former Dartmouth rower, Andrew Hilton, who has been a member of the staff since 2010.
