Q & A with Alec Marchuk

Why Dartmouth?

Dartmouth provided a school where I could not only get a great education, but also be a part of a close-knit community of amazing people.  It also offers so many opportunities for an undergrad to take advantage of, from the Outing Club to the study abroad programs.

How long have you been rowing and what interested you about rowing?

I started rowing my freshman year of college.  One of my teachers and my former basketball coach from high school encouraged me to look into walking onto the Crew team, after a concussion kept me from participating in any kinds of contact sports.

What is something about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates?

I once bowled with Vanessa Carlton and Julia Stiles, and got three consecutive strikes in the last three frames.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in on campus?

I am a member of the volunteer group Money$mart, and also the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Society.

What are your future plans, if any?

I would like to attend graduate school, possibly at Oxford.
