Q&A With Richard Newsome-White

Why Dartmouth?
I have always wanted to come and study in America and have long known of the outstanding educational and athletic opportunities offered at Dartmouth.

How long have you been rowing and what got you interested?

I have been rowing for nearly seven years now, and it was hearing about my uncle and mother's experience’s as rowers that got me interested.

Have you won any awards?
I have competed for the Junior New Zealand Rowing Squad in 2009. At my high school I was awarded the best ergometer score trophy and the sportsman of the year trophy for Condell’s House in 2009. Also I was awarded the Nixon Family trophy for rowing performance in 2008.

Something interesting?

My high school coach is a former Olympian and still holds the world record time for the lightweight men’s coxless pair. He set the world record in 1994 in Paris, France.

Future plans.
After I finish my education at Dartmouth I intend to do a Law Degree at Oxford, with the intention of rowing and competing for Oxford.
