PRINCETON, N.J. - The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team continued to set  school records in day two action at the Ivy League Championships. The Big Green set six new marks today, which brings their meet total to 12 new records. The Big Green maintained fifth place with 565 points.

Princeton continues to lead the meet with 953.5 points with Harvard in second place with 920 points. Columbia and Yale round out the top five with 796 and 694 points, respectively.

Dartmouth opened the finals with a bang, setting new school records in the first three events. Danielle Kerr (Gainesville, Fla.), known for her prowess in the distance events, swam a 9:55.95 in the 1000 freestyle, four seconds faster than the previous record set in 2007, and good enough for a sixth-place finish. Olivia Samson (Clifton Park, N.Y.) also had a good swim, placing 11th with a time of 10:01.57.

Rebecca Butler (West Orange, N.J.) had a great second day of competition. She led the Big Green contingent in the 400 IM, placing 12th with a time of 4:22.68, besting the school record of 4:23.96, a mark she set at this very meet last season. Charlotte Williams (Boca Raton, Fla.) placed 14th (4:26.21) while Koryn Ternes (Austin, Texas) was 20th (4:28.86).

The Big Green were well represented in the 200 free with Charlotte Kamai (Corte Madera, Calif.) taking runner-up honors in the B Final. She touched the wall with  time of 1:50.30, while teammate Sasha Alcon (Fremont, Calif.) was 12th with a time of 1:50.88. Not to be outdone, rookie Maddie Wall (St. Louis, Mo.) swam a 1:50.60 to win the C Final.

Williams placed 13th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.14 in the finals, but obliterated the school record in the morning preliminary by swimming a 1:03.67. Her time broke the 16-year-old school record of 1:04.36, set by Andrea Hill back in 1997.

The 100 butterfly saw Kendall Farnham (Severna Park, Md.) and Emily Holt (Louisville, Ky.) tie for 13th place, both swimming a 55.38, picking up 13.5 points for the Big Green

Kendese Nangle (Kingston, Jamaica) earned a NCAA B time in the 100 backstroke by swimming a 54.88, which placed her sixth in the A Final. Valerie Orellana (Arleta, Calif.) and Holt placed 14th and 16th in the B Final, respectively.

In the relays, the Big Green picked up two more school records. In the 200-medley relay Nangle, Williams, Holt and Siobhan Hengemuhle (Boulder, Colo.) teamed to swim a 1:42.88, two seconds faster than the previous mark. The 800 free relay brought similar results as Alcon, Samson, Kerr and Kami combined to swim a 7:20.81, three seconds than the previous record of 7:24.85, set last season.

In the morning prelims, Butler started things strong with ninth place finish in the 400 IM. Butler swam a 4:23.21, just .53 off of the school record, which she currently owns. Teammates Williams and Ternes also qualified for the evening finals with times of 4:28.94 and 4:31.05, respectively.

The Big Green placed four in the 100 fly finals with Holt leading the way. The rookie placed 12th with a time of 55.56 with Farnham on her tail with a time of 55.59. Orellana also placed 17th (55.99).

Nangle led the Dartmouth contingent in the 100 back. After setting a new Dartmouth record in the backstroke portion of the 400-medley relay on opening night, she picked up a NCAA B time swimming a 54.99, and qualifying for the A Final.

Dartmouth will close action at the 2013 Ivy League Championships on Saturday (March 2). Finals will begin at 6 p.m.
