HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men’s and women’s swimming and diving team will head down to Connecticut for a dual meet with the Huskies this Saturday at noon.
Both squads return from a pair of first-place finishes at the Dartmouth Invitational last weekend. The men’s team also won all four dual meets against competition from New England. Nejc Zupan set four UVAC records and the Dartmouth 200-Fly record.
On the first-day of competition, Zupan broke his own record, in the 200-IM from last season with a 1:49.50 finish.
Zupan began day two with a first-place finish in the 200-Medley Relay, helping set a new UVAC record with a finish of 1:33.80. The group consisting of James Verhagen, Andrew North, Daniel Whitcomb and Zupan broke the record set by Keene State.
In the 200-Fly, Zupan snapped Albert Roth’s Dartmouth record with a 1:49.29
Zupan set another pool record of 3:58.12 in the 400-IM, breaking the record set by Drew Ledwith in 2012. Logan Briggs finished the event second in 4:06.14 and Aaron Athanas hit the pad third in 4:10.22. Jun Oh was the fourth finisher for the Big Green in 4:10.24.
On the women’s side, Olivia Samson set a new UVAC record in the 200-Free, as the team finished with 1,106.5 points and swept all four dual meets. In team relay’s, the Big Green finished first in the 200-Free relay, as Mary Van Metre, Siobhan Hengemuhle, Sasha Alcon and Natalia Vecerek crossed in 1:37.17, a full second ahead of UMass and Connecticut College who tied for second.
Both teams will have one more dual remaining before Ivy League Championships, when they battle Columbia next Sunday.
