BURLINGTON, VT.  –  The Dartmouth women’s swimming and diving team defeated Vermont, 200.5-99.5 in a dual meet on Sunday afternoon. The Big Green solidified the win with seven first place finishes. 

On the boards, Dartmouth swept the competition, claiming all three top spots in the one and three meter diving events. Katy Feng won both events and Kendall Macrae and Fiona Weeks split second and third in each event. 

In team relays, Dartmouth took first and second, respectively, in the 400-Medley. The winning group of Kendese Nangle, Maddie Dunn, Natalia Vecerek and Mary Van Metre defeated Valerie Orellana, Rebecca Butler, Sasha Alcon and Siobhan Hengemuhle, 3:58.81 to 4:05.05.

Olivia Samson continues to thrive in freestyle competition, securing first place in the 1,000 in 10:38.83.  Christina Salvatori touched second in 10:40.94.

The Big Green also took the top spots in the 200-Free. Christine Kerr finished first in 1:54.65 and Sun and Danielle Kerr followed behind two seconds later. In the 500-Free, Christine Kerr placed first nearly four seconds ahead of Samson in second.  Sun also finished second in the 100-Free in 53.97.

Nangle added another top performance in the 100-Back, claiming first place in 59.39.  Nangle tied for first in the 50-Free with Vermont’s Christa Weaver, in a speedy time of 24.47. In the 100-Fly, Nangle finished second in 1:00.10.

Van Metre and Dunn finished back-to-back in the 100-Breast, with Van Metre finishing in 1:08.93.  Van Metre also placed first in the 200-Breast, in 2:29.32.

Dartmouth picked up its fourth event sweep in the 200-Fly. Maddie Wall won the race in 2:12.50 with Christine Kerr in second and Danielle Kerr in third.

The Green and White secured their fifth sweep in the 400-IM, as the trio of Wall, Samson and Butler gained valuable points for the team. Wall’s winning time was 4:38.56.

The Dartmouth Invitational will begin next Friday evening and conclude on Saturday. The event will be held at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in nearby White River Jct., Vt.
