BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Dartmouth men’s cross country team finished 13th at the NCAA Northeast Regional Friday afternoon.

The Big Green posted 390 points on the 10K Audubon Golf Course in western New York in what was their last race of the 2017 season.

In his final cross country race at Dartmouth, senior Pat Gregory was the team’s top finisher, crossing in 32:58.8 to take 36th overall. Sophomore Marco Pompilj was the second Big Green harrier to register points, doing so thanks to a 41st-place finish in 33:05.2.

A gap between the second and third Dartmouth runner is what caused the team to move into the middle of the pack as Sander Kushen’s 86th-place showing in 33:52.2 was the next to garner points.

Rounding out the scoring for the Green and White were junior Benjamin Szuhaj (34:17.9) and senior Will Shafer (34:25.4) in 108th and 119th, respectively.

Syracuse and Iona dominated the field and finished with 28 and 48 points, respectively, to secure the regional’s two automatic berths to the NCAA Championship Meet next weekend. A further illustration of just how good the Orange and Gaels were on this day was third-place Army West Point finished with 218 points, 170 behind Iona’s total.
