TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Senior Ethan Shaw (Falmouth, Maine) of the Dartmouth men's cross country team finished 54th at Monday's 2011 NCAA Championships held at the 10K LaVern Gibson Championship Course.

Shaw crossed the line in 30:24.8 in the final cross country race of his college career.

The 2011 Heps individual champion and Big Green senior took to the course against the best runners in the nation and placed in the top one-fifth in a field of 252 competitors.

"Ethan ran a smart race today," Herbert Chase Head Coach Barry Harwick said. "He was really trying to reach All-American status and came very close to it. I am very proud of how he ran today and all season long."

Wisconsin won the team title, while Arizona's Lawi Lalang took home the individual championship.

With the 2011 cross country season now over, the Big Green will now turn their attention to the indoor track & field season which begins Jan. 6 with the Dartmouth Relays at Leverone Fieldhouse.
