HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's cross country team will compete against squads from seven states Saturday afternoon when it takes to the course at the 2011 Northeast Region Championship.

The race will get started at noon at the Audubon Golf Course in Amherst, N.Y., and is hosted by the University of Buffalo.

Unlike other races all season, Saturday will feature a 10K course, rather than the usual 8K that the Big Green and others are accustomed to running on.

Senior Ethan Shaw (Falmouth, Maine) will lead Dartmouth just two weeks after taking the 2011 Heps individual title with a win at the finish line by just a tenth of a second in the snow.

The Big Green placed third as a team at the Ivy League's annual championship meet, held this year at West Windsor Fields in Princeton, N.J., instead of Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

Teams from New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York will make up the field competing Saturday afternoon.

Individuals and teams will be competing to secure spots for the NCAA Championship on Monday, Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind.
