BOSTON - Led by junior Mike Danaher (Clifton, Park, N.Y.) and senior Dylan Summers (Wolfeboro, N.H.), the Dartmouth men's cross country team placed fifth Sunday at the Mayor's Cup held at Franklin Park.

The Big Green were the highest scoring college team on the day, besting Boston University and Salem State with 192 points.

Danaher's 39th-place finish (25:21) paced the Big Green, while Summers was right behind in 42nd (25:22). With the top two finishes on the team Sunday, Danaher and Summers earned a sport on Dartmouth's roster next week at the Ivy Heptagonal Championships hosted by Princeton.

Sophomore Will Geoghegan wasn't far back of his teammates, running a 25:35 to finish 49th.

Freshman Matthew Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y) ran to a 55th-place finish in 25:42, while fellow freshman Silas Talbot (Anchorage, Alaska) earned 58 points with a time of 25:50 to round out the scoring.

Jack Terwilliger (Biddeford, Maine) finished 65th (26:03), Luke Decker (Mission Viejo, Calif.) was 70th (26:10), Graham Keggi (Middlebury, Conn.) was 79th (26:21), Henry Russell (Milton, Mass.) ran to 113th place (27:03) and Rex Woodbury (Tucson, Ariz.) closed it out in 134th (27:32).

The New York Athletic Club won the 8K team championship with 43 points with the hosts from the Boston Athletic Association taking second with 98 points.

BU was eighth with 460 points, while Salem State was 10th of 10 teams, posting 588 points.

Next week will be the biggest challenge for the Big Green this season as the annual Heps Championships is on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Princeton, N.J.
