HANOVER, N.H. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) ranked the Dartmouth College men's cross country team No. 4 in the Northeast Region in its annual preseason regional rankings. The Big Green, who also finished the 2010 season ranked fourth in the region, are the top Ivy League team, one spot ahead of fifth-place Columbia.

Dartmouth finished last season second at the 2010 Ivy Heptagonal Championships in New York. Then-junior Ethan Shaw (Falmouth, Maine) paced the Big Green with a third-place finish, helping the team to 55 points.

Head Coach Barry Harwick returns for his 19th season at his alma mater and will benefit from the veteran presence of not only Shaw, but senior Brad Kenimer (Alexandria, Va.) and juniors Phil Royer (Portsmouth, R.I.) and Jonathan Gault (Bedford, Mass.), all of whom scored at the Ivy meet last season.

The Big Green will get the 2011 campaign underway Saturday, Sept. 10 in the annual Dartmouth Invitational. Race time is set for 10:30 a.m.
