HANOVER, N.H. - After a third-place finish two weeks ago at Heps, the Dartmouth men's cross country team will now look to continue its strong running at Friday's 2012 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship.

The meet will be held at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Conn., and will be co-hosted by Yale and Fairfield. Men's teams will run a slightly longer race than they usually do over the course of the fall season as Friday's race will take place on a 10K course, rather than the standard 8K.

The 10K course is also used at next week's NCAA Championship held this year in Louisville, Ky.

Leading the way for the Big Green will be a pair of First Team All-Ivy runners in junior Will Geoghegan and senior Phil Royer. The teammates finished fifth and sixth, respectively, last time out, helping the Green and White to a third-place showing at the league's championship meet.

The coaching staff also expects Steve Mangan, Dylan O'Sullivan, Jonathan Gault and Henry Sterling to compete for spots in the team's scoring.

Course conditions were affected by Superstorm Sandy last week, but volunteers have been tirelessly working to clear the area for Friday's 1:15 p.m. start time.
