Assistant coach Marie Thomason joined the Dartmouth staff in January of 2012 and is entering her second season with the Big Green softball program.
Thomason, who helps with the Dartmouth hitters, helped lead the Big Green to 14 wins in 2012 including wins over Harvard, North Texas and Stetson.
Thomason came to Dartmouth from Virginia, where she most recently served as the general manager and head coach of the Virginia Lady Aces Softball Club. Thomason oversaw team activities, practices and games while helping coordinate the day-to-day activities of the program.
In addition to her travel ball experience, she brings several years of coaching experience, most recently serving as a volunteer coach at Norfolk State University for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. She also spent two years as an assistant coach at Virginia Wesleyan. At both of her collegiate stops she has specialized in hitting development as well as training the catchers and infielders. In addition to her collegiate stops, Thomason has also spent time working with prep players at Bayside High School in Virginia Beach, Va., and Cortex High School in Phoenix, Ariz.
Thomason spent her playing days at Central Arizona College before moving on to Brigham Young-Hawaii where she was a three-year letterwinner. She also has experience in personal training and was the master instructor and conditioning program manager for Pitch a Fit, an indoor fast pitch facility in Chesapeake, Va.
Thomason earned her Bachelor of Education from Ottawa University in 2006 and got her Masters for Science in Exercise Science and Wellness from Old Dominion University in 2009.
