HANOVER, N.H. —The 60th-ranked Dartmouth men's tennis team tied the program's single-season wins' record with a 5-2 home victory over 51st-ranked Brown on Friday. The Big Green improved to 17-3 overall and 3-3 in the Ivy League. The 17 victories equals the win totals from the 1996 (17-5) and the 1997 (17-5) seasons. The loss dropped the Bears to 16-6 and 2-2 in the conference.

Dartmouth got the first tally of the match by taking two of the three doubles matches to secure the point. Senior Michael Laser (Glencoe, Ill.) and junior Alex de Chatellus (Tiburon, Calif.) defeated Soufian Azargui and Brandon Burke, 8-4, at first doubles. In the third spot, junior Michael Jacobs (Oak Park, Ill.) and sophomore Cameron Ghorbani (Lexington, Mass.) beat William Spector and Sam Fife, 8-3.

In singles, the Big Green claimed four of the six matches to earn the 5-2 victory. Laser won at the top spot over Azargui, 6-2, 6-3. At the second spot, junior Xander Centenari (Towson, Md.) topped Spector, 6-3, 6-3. Ghorbani bested Fife in third singles, 6-4, 6-2. Senior Chris Ho (Los Altos, Calif.) won at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-4, over Mike Hill.

It was the final home match of the season for Dartmouth, and the final home contest in the careers of Laser and Ho.

The Big Green travel to Yale on Sunday, April 22, for a 2 p.m. match.
