BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The 57th-ranked Dartmouth men's tennis team defeated Illinois State, 5-2, on Sunday at Binghamton, N.Y. The win improved the Big Green to 10-1, while the Redbirds dropped to 5-6.

Dartmouth lost the doubles point after Illinois State won first and third doubles. The second doubles match went unfinished with the score 7-7.

In singles, the Big Green claimed five of the six matches to secure the victory. Senior Michael Laser (Glencoe, Ill.) earned a three-set victory over Alexander Pelaez at first singles. Laser lost the opening set, 4-6, but came back to win the second and the third, 6-3, 7-5. At third singles, sophomore Cameron Ghorbani (Lexington, Mass.) topped Skip Span, 6-3, 6-3.

Freshman Chris Kipouras (San Ramon, Calif.) won at the fourth spot, 6-4, 6-3, over Juuso Ojanen. In the fifth spot, sophomore Brandon DeBot (Stevens Point, Wis.) beat Muddappa Appanervanda, 6-3, 7-5. At sixth singles, senior Chris Ho (Los Altos, Calif.) defeated Willi Peter, 7-6, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3).

The Big Green next compete at UC Riverside on Sunday, March 18.
