HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 3 seeded Dartmouth men’s tennis team defeated No. 4 Cornell, 4-1, on Monday in the third-place match of the ECAC Indoor Championship at the Boss Tennis Center.

The Big Green won two out of their three matches at the annual event to improve on last year’s eight-place finish.

Dartmouth continued its dominant play in doubles action scoring the matches first point. The Green and White took all three matches against their Ancient Eight rival. Dovydas Sakinis and Brandon DeBot won their match, 6-3, at No. 2, while Chris Kipouras and Diego Pedraza outlasted their opposition for a 6-4 victory at No. 3. Dartmouth’s No. 1 duo of Cameron Ghorbani and Brendan Tannenbaum topped the No. 34 ranked tandem of Sam Fleck and Chris Vrabel, 6-3.

In singles action, the Big Green won a trio of matches in straight sets to finish in third place. At No. 1, Sakinis defeated Bernardo Casares, 6-1, 6-4. DeBot won his match at No. 3, 6-5, 6-2, against the Big Red’s Jason Luu. George Wall sealed the Dartmouth victory with a 6-4, 6-5 win at No. 6 versus Quoc-Daniel Nguyen.

The Big Green return to the courts on Friday, Feb. 21, hosting Memphis in non-conference action.
