HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 3 seed Dartmouth men’s tennis team opened the ECAC Indoor Tennis Championship with a 4-0 victory against No. 6 seed George Washington on Friday evening.

The Big Green got off to a quick start, taking the doubles points once again in the Upper Valley. In all seven matches inside the Boss Tennis Center in 2014, Dartmouth has earned the first point of the match with convincing doubles wins.

At No. 2, Brandon DeBot and Dovydas Sakinis cruised to a 6-2 triumph over Francisco Dias and Julius Tverijonas. The Big Green clinched the point as Chris Kipouras and Diego Pedraza won their match. 6-4, at No. 3. Since the event has a play to decision format, the match at No. 1 was halted and singles play began.

Pedraza earned the first singles win for Dartmouth, quickly dispatching Viktor Svensson, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6. Sakinis continued his strong play at No. 1, topping Dias in straight set as well.

George Wall clinched the victory for Dartmouth with a two-set win a No. 5. Wall dropped just three games as he coasted to a straight set win versus Ulrik Thomsen.

The Green and White have already improved on last year’s showing at the event, as Dartmouth went 0-3.

The Big Green continue the ECAC Men’s Indoor Championship on Sunday, Feb. 16, facing the winner of Saturday morning’s Princeton-Columbia Contest. The Tigers are the seventh seed and the Lions are the second seed in the eight-team event.
