NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The duo of Cameron Ghorbani and Brendan Tannenbaum represented the Dartmouth men’s tennis team well at the Northeast Regionals, winning a pair of matches to advance to the semifinals.
Ghorbani and Tannenbaum defeated a tandem from Fairfield, 8-7, before topping No. 2 seed Dennis Nguyen and Casey MacMaster of Harvard, 8-5. Prior to the match with Ghorbani and Tannenbaum, Nguyen/MacMaster had been 9-1 in the fall with a pair of wins against top-20 opponents. Ghorbani and Tannenbaum will take on a duo from Cornell at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
In singles action, Chris Kipouras advanced to the quarterfinals with a come-from-behind, three-set win over Harvard’s 5-6, 6-5, 6-2. The back-and-forth match saw Kipouras rally from a 4-0 deficit in the first set before having two set points in the tie-breaker. He served for the second set at 5-4, but was broken. Later in the match, he kept his composure to take the tie-breaker and then cruised in the third set. Kipouras will face No. 2 seed Dennis Nguyen tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
