NEW YORK –Three members of the Dartmouth men’s tennis team competed on the first day of the Columbia Classic on Friday. Dovydas Sakinas and Brandon DeBot picked up wins for the Big Green while Blake Niehaus fell in singles play.

Sakinas and DeBot won their match in A Flight doubles, 8-1, against a tandem from St. John’s.

In singles action, Sakinas topped Dalen Klassen of Marist in straight sets in the opening match of A Flight. In B Flight, DeBot fell in two sets to Marist’s Joe Dube. In C Flight, Frederico Ruis of St. John’s defeated Dartmouth’s Niehaus in straight sets.

The trio continues the Columbia Classic with matches tomorrow, Oct. 5, while the rest of the team takes part in the Brown Invitational in the Ocean State.
