Men's Tennis Competes on Day One of the Ivy Plus Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Dartmouth men’s tennis team had a strong showing on the opening day of the Ivy Plus Championships on Friday on Yale’s campus. All 10 members of the squad saw action while Sam Todd and freshman George Wall each had perfect 2-0 records in singles action.

Todd competed in the Draw E main and topped Will Rexnick from Marist and Bert Vancura from Columbia on the opening day of play. In his first collegiate action, Wall took part in Draw F defeating Tommy Ratchford from Yale and Dylan Brown from Cornell.

In Draw A, Chris Kipouras and Dovydas Sakinis competed for the Big Green. Kipouras dropped his opening round match and won his consolation match against Brown’s Will Spector. Sakinis dropped his first round match and defeated Vim de Alwis from Penn.

Diego Pedraza surrendered his first two matches in Draw B, falling to players from UNC-Wilmington and St. John’s in straight sets.

Brandon DeBot and Cameron Ghorbani competed in Draw C for Dartmouth. Both fell in their first match before losing in the consolation round in three sets.

In Draw D, Justin Chan lost his opening match in straight sets before advancing with a bye in the consolation bracket.

Brendan Tannenbaum fell to Karan Salwan from UNC Wilmington before winning a three-set thriller against Austin McCasin from Army.

Erik Nordahl won his opening round match in Draw F before falling in the second round.

In doubles action, Ghorbani and Tannenbaum won their match in Draw A while Sakinis and DeBot fell to a duo from conference rival Brown. Chan and Wall won their match in Draw C as did Nordahl and Todd.

The Big Green continue the Ivy Plus Championships on Saturday, Sept. 21 as both Todd and Wall look to advance.
