Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week - Ghorbani & Dunchack
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding
student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union
Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their
efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Cameron Ghorbani, (Lexington, Mass.) Jr. Men's Tennis
Cameron Ghorbani helped the Dartmouth men's tennis team score a 4-3 come-from-behind victory against St. John's last week inside The Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion. The junior won both his match at No. 2 Doubles and No. 3 singles to score two hard-earned points for the Big Green. The Lexington, Mass., native won in straight sets for the first time this season in singles action, while winning his fifth doubles match of the season with partner Brendan Tannenbaum.
Janae Dunchack (Northern Cambria, Pa.) Jr., Multi, Women's Track and Field
For the third year in a row, Janae Dunchack took home the individual Heps Championship in the pentathlon this past weekend at Harvard's Gordon Track. Dunchack broke the school record for points in the process, posting 3,940 en route to the third straight indoor title for the junior. She is just the third Ivy League student-athlete to win the pentathlon individual crown at least three times in a career, joining Penn's Frances Child (3) and Brown's Lindsay Taylor (4) as the only three to accomplish the feat. Dunchack's point total also ranks as the second best in meet history.
