A new electronic scoreboard, a gift of the families of Molly Scott '11 and Georgie Smyser '11, was officially dedicated in the Alexis Boss Tennis Center on January 13. The Smyser family-Georgie, her mother Kathryn, and father Craig-were present at the ceremony, along with many alumni, supporters and fans of the men's and women's tennis programs. Unfortunately, Molly and her parents, Cindy Wolcott '76 and Jim Scott '69, could not make the trip to Hanover from California.

"We want to thank the families of Georgie Smyser '11 and Molly Scott '11 for this generous gift, and thank Georgie and her parents Kathryn and Craig for making the trip up here from Texas. We're just sorry that Molly, Jim, and Cindy weren't able to join us," Head Women's Tennis Coach Bob Dallis said at the ceremony. "We couldn't be more pleased to have this scoreboard in the Boss Tennis Center. As you all can see, it fits seamlessly into this space, as if the building was designed for it. We just can't thank them enough for giving back to the program in this way."

Deputy Director of Athletics Bob Ceplikas also spoke at the event, noting that tennis legend Billie Jean King called the Boss Tennis Center and Alan Gordon Pavilion the "finest college tennis facility in the country" when she toured the facility in 2003 while on campus to receive an honorary degree.

"We may have to get Billie Jean back here now because this scoreboard has taken the facility up to an even higher level," Ceplikas said. "We're so pleased to be able to celebrate this great addition to what is already a terrific facility. And I can't wait to see our men's and women's teams in action, lighting up that left-hand side at the top of the scoreboard. This is something that's going to enhance every match we play from now on."

Former Big Green captains Georgie Smyser '11 and Molly Scott '11 were members of the 2011 Ivy League Championship team, the first team in the history of Dartmouth women's tennis to capture a league title. Scott is currently playing pro tennis, and Smyser is working as a consultant and planning to attend law school.
