HANOVER, N.H - The three-day Dartmouth Shootout came to an end on Sunday, and the Big Green defended their home courts with a couple of victories. Brandon DeBot (Stevens Point, Wis.) followed up his doubles win on Saturday with a win in the flight B singles on Sunday. The freshman won two matches on day three to become the only individual overall winner for Dartmouth.
Despite the fact he was the only Dartmouth player to claim an overall victory, multiple other Big Green players showcased their skills on Sunday. Junior Andrew Malizia (Chapel Hill, N.C.) finished as the runner up in the finals of the flight E singles draw. Two other Dartmouth competitors finished in third in their respective draws; senior Curtis Roby (New York, N.Y) in flight A and senior Stephen Greif (San Antonio, Texas) in flight C.
Three other Big Green players lost their first match of the Shootout on Saturday, but won every match after to win the consolation side of their draws; freshman Cameron Ghorbani (Lexington, Mass.) in flight A, sophomore Mike Jacobs (Oak Park, Ill.) in flight C and sophomore Kevin Cox (Anaheim, Calif.) in flight D. Overall, the team went 25-10 in singles and 11-4 in doubles.
The Big Green look to build upon their Shootout results when they compete in the ITA Regional Championship, Oct. 15-20, at New Haven Conn.
