PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Dartmouth men’s golf team fired a final round aggregate score of 314 to finish fourth at the Century Intercollegiate contested at the par-71, 6,807 yard Century Country Club.
Yale shot a closing round team total of 297 to jump from fourth to first en route to a three stroke victory over Rhode Island. Temple finished in third with the Big Green and Princeton rounding out the top five.
Dartmouth’s Charlie Edler shared individual medalist honors with Prnceton’s Quinn Prchal. Edler opened the tournament with a one-under-70 and closed with a four-over par 75. Prchal and Edler were four shots in front of a trio of players at +7, with two of those players, Sam Bernstein and Joe Willis, helping Yale to the team title.
As a team, the Big Green held the lead after the opening round as they fired a team total of 296. During the first 18 holes, all four scorers for Dartmouth shot in the 70’s. However, during the final round only two player’s shot in the 70’s as they slipped three spots into fourth.
Edler became the first member of the Big Green to win or earn a share of an individual title in 2012-13. The sophomore from Fairhaven, N.J., won his first tournament as a member of the team.
Entering the clubhouse eight strokes behind Edler’s pace was senior James Pleat (76-77). Pleat finished in a tie for 10th.
Dartmouth wraps up the 2013 spring season April 26-28, traveling to Owings, Md. to compete in the Ivy League Championship.
