PURCHASE, N.Y. — The Dartmouth men's golf team placed fourth out of eight teams at the Century Intercollegiate on Sunday. Senior Peter Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) took second overall in difficult conditions at the 6,925-yard par-71 Century Country Club in Purchase, N.Y.
Rhode Island won the team event with a 600 (+32), Harvard placed second at 606 (+38) and Princeton finished third with a 617 (+49). Williamson second-place finish helped lead the Big Green to the fourth-place 624 (+56). He entered the final round with the lead at three-under, but shot a five-over 76 in the second round to finish two-over (144). Rhode Island's Branden Chicorka won the individual medalist honors with a one-over 143. Chicorka shot a 72 on day one and a 71 in the final round.
Sophomore Joey Maziar (Atlanta, Ga.) had the second-best finish for Dartmouth. Maziar tied for 20th with a 157 (+15). After a 76 in the first round, Maziar shot an 81 on day two. Junior James Pleat (Nashua, N.H.) came in tied for 31st with a 161 (+19), freshman Daniel Knight (Montreal, Quebec) tied for 35th at 162 (+20) and freshman Charlie Edler (Fair Haven, N.J.) finished in a tie for 51st with a 170 (+28).
The Century Intercollegiate was the final tune-up for the Big Green before they play at the Ivy League Championship at the Galloway National Golf Course on April 27-29.
