PHILADELPHIA, PA. — The Dartmouth men's golf team is leading the Big 5 Invitational at the Plymouth Country Club after the first day of play. The Big Green shot a 286 (+6) in the opening round in the 22-team event. Penn is four shots behind at 290 and Campbell is in third at 292.

Senior Peter Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) and sophomore Joey Maziar (Atlanta, Ga.) led the charge for Dartmouth. Williamson shot a 1-under 69 and is tied for second. Maziar is in a tie for fourth after carding an even-par 70.

Williamson birdied four holes on his way to 1-under and Maziar ended his round with an eagle on 18 to reach even-par. Junior James Pleat (Nashua, N.H.) is in a tie for 17th at 3-over-par (73) and freshman Charlie Edler (Fair Haven, N.J.) shot a four-over 74 and is tied for 25th.

Ben Cooley of Penn is the individual leader after shooting a three-under-par 67 in the first round. Brandon Park of Seton Hall and Williamson are two strokes back.

The tournament continues on Sunday at the 6,000-yard par-70 course.
