Dartmouth Has 10 Earn Academic All-Ivy Honors for Spring Season

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League office announced Wednesday afternoon the list of 80 student-athletes from around the conference who earned 2013-14 Academic All-Ivy honors for its spring sports.

Ten members of Dartmouth teams were a part of that list as five men and five women met the criteria set forth by the league office. To be considered for Academic All-Ivy distinction, an individual must be a starter or key reserve on a varsity team, while also achieving at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average in the classroom.

The 10 Big Green student-athletes listed in alphabetical order with key information are as follows:

 Jeff Keller, Sr., Baseball, Economics (Atherton, Calif.)
- Second-Team All-Ivy League and Third-Team All-New England
- Led the Ivy League with 15 doubles
- Dartmouth’s all-time leader in doubles with 53, while batting .339 in four seasons

Alex St. Romain, Sr., Softball, Environmental Studies (Chatham, N.J.)
- Catcher for first Dartmouth softball team to win an Ivy League title and advance to the NCAA Tournament
- One of the league’s top defensive players behind the plate, posting a .996 fielding percentage in 2014

John Bleday, Sr., Men’s Outdoor Track & Field, Economics (Westwood, Mass.)
- Reached the men’s 5000m outdoor final at the NCAA Championship in Eugene
- Became the first Dartmouth man to qualify for outdoor nationals in six years, joining Curtis King in the final race this season

Abbey D'Agostino, Sr., Women’s Outdoor Track & Field, Psychology (Topsfield, Mass.)
- A three-time Ivy League Heptagonal Champion during outdoor season (3K, 5K, 10K)
- First Ivy League woman to win all three distances in a career, a feat she accomplished at one Heps meet over two days in May. She ends her Dartmouth career as a 16-time Ivy League champion
- Finished third in the 5000m national final, earning her 13th All-America honor

Mike Olentine, Sr., Men’s Lacrosse, Economics (Princeton, N.J.)
- Was the team’s leader in both goals (21) and points (28)
- Scored 10 goals in the final game of the season against Holy Cross to set a new Dartmouth single-game record.

Kristen Giovanniello, Sr., Women’s Lacrosse, Psychology (Old Brookville, N.Y.)
- Second-Team All-Ivy League and IWLCA Second-Team All-Northeast Region goalkeeper
- Solidified her place in Dartmouth record books by moving into the top three all-time in numerous goalkeeping records

Matt Wefer, Sr., Sailing, Classical Studies (Glen Head, N.Y.)
- ICSA Coed All-American
- Skippered A-Division boat to fifth place and the team to eighth place at Coed National Championships

Deirdre Lambert, Jr., Sailing, Engineering (Cumberland, Maine)
- Quantum Women’s Sailor of the Year for second straight year
- Led Big Green to second straight Women’s National Championship
- ICSA Women’s All-American

Joey Maziar, Sr., Men’s Golf, Economics (Atlanta, Ga.)
- Finished second at Bucknell Invitational in first event of the year
- Posted a 76.9 stroke average for the season

Sarah Knapp, Sr., Women’s Golf, History (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.)
- Low scorer for Dartmouth in four of eight events, including Ivy Championship in 15th
- 78.1 stroke average for the season
