HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth softball team, under the direction of head coach Rachel Hanson, announced its 2013 softball schedule. The 50-game slate is highlighted by four in-season tournaments and seven home dates at the Dartmouth Softball Park.
The Big Green will open the home slate on April 5th when they welcome Cornell to Hanover for an Ivy League doubleheader. Dartmouth will also host Ivy League foes, Princeton, Brown and Harvard in home contests.
The 2013 season starts on Feb. 22 when Dartmouth travels to Deland, Fla., for the Stetson tournament. The Big Green will take on host Stetson, Temple and Bethune-Cookman over the three-day tournament slated from Feb. 22-24.
The Big Green will stay on the road the following weekend and head to the nation's capital for a tournament hosted by George Washington March 1-3. Dartmouth will take on Bucknell, Seton Hall and George Washington.
Dartmouth takes its annual pilgrimage to Florida for spring break. The Big Green will spend 10 days in the Sunshine state participating in two tournaments. The team opens with the South Florida Invitational March 15-17. They will play games against Robert Morris, Rhode Island, Quinnipiac, Liberty and Maryland in tournament action. Dartmouth will also play Rutgers in a neutral site game and South Florida on March 20th. The Big Green will also travel to Florida Gulf Coast for a doubleheader on March 21st.
Dartmouth closes out tournament action at the FAU Invitational March 22-24. The Big Green will take on host FAU as well as Iowa State, Elon and Bethune-Cookman.
The Big Green return to New England on March 26 with a non-conference doubleheader at Fairfield before jumping into Ivy League action March 29-30 with twinbills at Columbia and Penn.
The home slate opens April 5-6 when Cornell and Princeton make the trip to the Dartmouth Softball Park for a pair of doubleheaders, opening a 10-game homestand for the Big Green. During that span, Dartmouth will host Boston College in a non-conference matchup and opens Ivy League North Division action with Brown April 13-14. Dartmouth will travel to Yale for divisional action, April 20-21.
The Big Green closes the regular-season with a non-conference doubleheader against Albany on April 24 and will close with a home-and-home series with Harvard April 27-28.
Dartmouth returns All-Ivy League pitcher Kristen Rumley (Katy, Texas) and welcomes a six-member freshman class. The Big Green closed out the 2012 season with a 14-25, 7-13 Ivy League record and picked up its first win over Harvard since 2009. The Big Green also defeated Stetson and North Texas in non-conference action.
