The Dartmouth softball team makes its first appearance in the Ivy League Championship series since 2009 when it travels to Philadelphia, May 4-5. The Big Green will face South Division champion, Penn, who will be hosting the event. On the line are the 2013 Ivy League title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship.
The Big Green, who are in search of their first Ivy League title, split with Penn during the regular season. Dartmouth made the trip to Philadelphia earlier this month and took the first game, 4-1, before falling, 3-1, in the nightcap.
Penn will be making its second consecutive appearance in the Ivy League Championship series while the Big Green are in search of its first-ever NCAA appearance. The Big Green will look to become the first road team to win the championship series. In each of the last six series the host institution has won the series.
