HANOVER, N.H. – The NCAA announced Tuesday afternoon that Dartmouth men’s track & field student-athlete Jonathan Gault has been named the recipient of one of just two Jim McKay Postgraduate Scholarships awarded this year.

Established in 2008 to honor the contributions of pioneer sports journalist Jim McKay, the program annually awards $10,000 each to one female and one male student-athlete in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement and potential to contribute to the sports communication industry.

Gault recently finished his final season in Hanover as one of the top distance runners for the Big Green in the last four seasons. His final race came in May at the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C., representing Dartmouth in the 10,000m.

An aspiring journalist, Gault will continue his education at Syracuse this fall where he will study magazine, newspaper and online journalism. During his time in Hanover, Gault worked at The Dartmouth, the college’s student newspaper, as well as several other media outlets in internship positions.

The other recipient of this year’s McKay Postgraduate Scholarship was Kaitlin Morse, a softball player from Southeastern Louisiana.
