Dartmouth Men Dominate Home Meet Against Vermont & UMass-Lowell

HANOVER, N.H. – In the lone home meet of the 2013 outdoor season, the Dartmouth men’s track & field team soundly defeated visiting Vermont and UMass-Lowell Saturday at Memorial Field.

The Big Green scored 99 points, while the River Hawks were second with 42 and the Catamounts third with 35 points. In all, the home squad posted 13 individual victories and one relay win.

Sophomore Brett Buskey won the 100 meters in a personal-best time of 10.81, while senior Connor Reilly put together a solid 21.62 in the 200m to take first place. Junior Jalil Bishop was second in the 200m (21.92), but took the top spot in the 400m as he ran a personal-best 48.90 to claim the five team points.

Sophomore thrower Dom Filiano had a dominant day with two first-place showings in the shot put (51-6.25/15.70m) and the discus (147-3.0/44.88m), while classmate TJ Servino was the top performer in the hammer throw (188-11.0/57.58m).

Other members of the team to finish first were: Jacob Evanter in the 110-meter hurdles (15.00), freshman Tim Gorman in the 800m (1:55.96), Edward Wagner in the 400m hurdles (54.26), junior Ben Nollet in the javelin (186-4.0/56.80m), senior Brett Gilson in the pole vault (14-5.25/4.40m) and freshman Daniel Katz in the triple jump (43-1.0/13.13m).

In the final event of the afternoon on the Memorial Field track, the Big Green’s 4x400m relay team of Bishop, Wagner and seniors Brendin Beaulieu-Jones and Jonathan Brady combined to run a 3:22.24 to take the top spot by nearly five and a half seconds over second-place UMass-Lowell.

Dartmouth will be back in action at the Sam Howell Invitational next weekend at Princeton. The meet will begin Friday and run through Saturday.
