BOSTON - A day after the women ruled the Boston University Track & Tennis Center, the men took their turn on the second day of the BU Terrier Invitational Saturday.
Leading the way for the Dartmouth men's indoor track & field team on this day was junior John Bleday in the 3000m. Last season's indoor Heps champion in the event bested a field of 146 Saturday evening by taking the top spot, running a 7:59.33.
Bleday was the lone runner to post a sub-eight-minute time.
In the 5000m, senior Jonathan Gault took home second with 14:25.81. The place was another impressive finish for the Big Green as the field saw more than 70 compete.
Senior Connor Reilly once again had a strong showing in the 60m, a common theme this season. Reilly was fifth in the finals, crossing in a 6.93. The Niskayuna, N.Y., native advanced with a 6.95 in the preliminary round, the seventh-best time in a field of 100.
Junior Jalil Bishop ran in two events, taking second in his heat of the 500m (1:06.55) and first in his section of the 200m (22:30).
In the mile, freshman Tim Gorman claimed 29th in the mile, posting a 4:12.00. The field in the event featured nearly 200 competitors and was one of the largest of the weekend.
The meet was non-scoring.
Next weekend sees the team return home for the Dartmouth Classic on Saturday, Feb. 2. The meet, held at Leverone Field House is the second home meet of the indoor season.
