BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Freshman Thomas Servino (Highland Mills, N.Y.) of the Dartmouth men's track & field team finished sixth in the hammer throw Friday at the 2012 USA Junior Championships.

The meet, hosted by Indiana University at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex, features the top high school and collegiate freshmen athletes in the country and serves as a qualifier for this year's IAAF World Junior Championships. Top performers will be part of the American team that will compete in Barcelona, Spain, from July 10-15.

Servino's 207-11.0/63.38m on his fifth attempt of the day earned the Big Green thrower the sixth-place finish. In all, Servino had six attempts on the afternoon without recording a foul on his way to advancing into the finals.

"I couldn't be more proud of TJ for all he has faced this year," Dartmouth assistant and throws coach Michelle Clayton said. "It was so much fun to be there and see him compete and find success. It was a great competition for a group of young men who are poised to be the future of this event."
