JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After three events on the first day of competition at the 2012 NCAA East Regional, the Dartmouth men's track & field team was represented in just one on the second day Friday evening.

Sophomore Henry Sterling (South Freeport, Maine) took to the Hodges Stadium track under the lights on the campus of North Florida in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the event's preliminary round.

However, Sterling will not move on to Drake in two weeks at the NCAA Championship Meet as his time of 9:08.50 on Friday failed to qualify the second-year member of the Big Green to advance.

Sterling's time was good for 31st overall in the event that featured three separate heats.

The men will conclude the weekend at North Florida on Saturday with John Bleday (Westwood, Mass.) in the 5,000 meters and Steve Mangan (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) in the quarterfinals of the 1,500.
