HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's track & field team will send five student-athletes to Jacksonville next weekend for the NCAA East Regional Meet held at the University of North Florida.

The three-day meet, held at UNF's Hodges Stadium, will begin on Thursday, May 24 and conclude Saturday, May 26.

The performance list featuring qualifiers for the regional meet held at the University of North Florida was released Thursday afternoon and confirmed that five members of the Big Green will be heading south for a shot at moving on to the NCAA Championship meet in Iowa in early June.

Senior Ethan Shaw (Falmouth, Maine) is the highest-qualifying member of the Big Green to earn a spot in the regional meet as his 29:17.89 in the 10,000 meters ranks 11th among those headed to Jacksonville.

Shaw is the only member of the team returning to regionals this season after also making it to Indiana last season in the 10K.

Henry Sterling (South Freeport, Maine) will represent the Green and White in the 3,000-meter steeplechase after posting a 9:00.63 during the year. That time ranked the sophomore runner 36th in the East.

Sophomore Steve Mangan (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) will head to UNF with a 3:45.36 in the 1,500 meters, the 38th-best qualifying time in the region. Also 38th in his respective event was junior Brett Gilson (Richboro, Pa.) in the javelin with a 210-11.0/64.29m.

John Bleday (Westwood, Mass.) rounds out the five Dartmouth participants at the meet, just getting into the field of 48 with a 14:07.89 to qualify 44th in the 5,000 meters.

Gilson and the rest of those who qualified for the men's javelin will actually be the first event of the entire weekend as the first round of the event is set to begin Thursday at 11 a.m.

Mangan will kick-start the weekend on the track for the Big Green, running in the preliminaries of his event on Thursday at 6 p.m. A few hours later, Shaw will take to the track for the 10K with a spot in Des Moines on the line.  The only Dartmouth participant on Friday will be Sterling in the quarterfinals of the steeplechase, set for 8:50 p.m.

Saturday's schedule of events will feature the quarterfinals of the 1,500m and Bleday competing in the semifinals of the 5K shortly after 8 p.m.
