GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Dartmouth men got things started at North Carolina A&T’s Irwin Belk Track inside Aggie Stadium and the 2013 NCAA East Regional Thursday night with two events.
The first Big Green men to step on the track on this night were sophomore Silas Talbot and junior Steve Mangan in the first round of the 1500m. Talbot ran a 3:49.00 to finish 30th, while Mangan’s 4:25.05 placed 48th. Unfortunately for both, those finishes will not see the duo advance to the quarterfinals of the event, ending their seasons.
In the final turn of his race, Mangan became entangled with another runner that resulted in a misstep and his eventual placement.
In the 10,000m, senior Jonathan Gault wrapped up his college career with a 30:54.15 in the final event of the day. Gault’s time in the semifinal race did not see him advance beyond Thursday’s semifinal and to Eugene, Ore., for a chance at the National Championship meet in two weeks.
Friday will see Dartmouth represented in both the javelin as well as the 3000m-steeplechase.
