HANOVER, N.H. – A rare own goal and insurance tally ten minutes later pushed the Dartmouth women’s soccer team over Brown, 2-0, in a non-conference tilt at Burnham Field.

Although Dartmouth didn’t score in the first half, the Big Green finished with four shots on target. Sophomore Lucielle Kozlov recorded the first shot of the contest 2:30 into play. Classmate Jackie Friedman also tried her chances at net, but her shot was knocked away. Freshman Holly Patterson released a shot with five minutes left in the half, but another save by Brown kept the game tied.

Scoreless with 21:16 remaining in the contest, senior Marina Moschitto was attempting to send a basic cross from the left side of the field, when a Brown defender tried to clear the ball, but an errant kick sent the ball inside the net for an own goal to give Dartmouth a 1-0 lead.

Ten minutes later, with 11:11 left, the Big Green got their wish granted when sophomore Corey Delaney sent a perfectly timed corner kick onto the head of Moschitto for the first official goal of the game.

Dartmouth (6-5-3, 2-2 Ivy) finished with a 15-3 edge in shots, taking nine in the first half and six in the final stanza. Brown (7-4-1, 2-1-1 Ivy) split time in goal with starter Amber Bledsoe making four saves and MC Barrett stopping two.

Freshman keeper Casey Cousineau had a night of firsts, making her first collegiate start and posted her first shutout after making one save late in the second. Cousineau’s save came with three minutes left on a shot from Mika Siegelman.

Dartmouth will host Columbia on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Ivy League play.
