The Dartmouth College women's soccer team (3-12-0, 1-5-0 Ivy) closes out the 2011 season with an Ivy League matchup with Cornell on Saturday (Nov. 5) at Burnham Field. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. The Dartmouth women's soccer program will honor the Class of 2012 with a ceremony.
BIG GREEN TIDBITS
Solomon Find the Net - Junior defender Aurelia Solomon (Washington, D.C.) scored her first goal of the season against Ivy League leader, Harvard (Oct. 29). Solomon's goal is the eighth goal this season for the Big Green and is the first goal this season from a defender.
Closing Out at Burnham - Saturday's game marks the final home game of the season at Burnham Field. This season, the Big Green own a 3-2-0 record with wins over Vermont (Sept. 8), Maine (Sept. 18) and Princeton (Oct. 1). Over the last five seasons, including this season, Dartmouth has a 20-11-4 record at Burnham Field and will be looking for its fourth home win on Saturday.
So Close - Dartmouth's 2-1 loss at Harvard (Oct. 29) marked the ninth game this season that was decided by one goal and was the second consecutive game decided by one marker. This season in games decided by one goal, Dartmouth has a 3-6-0 record.
Thank You Class of 2012 - Saturday's game marks the final home game for the Class of 2012. The Big Green will honor seniors Anna Chinco (Sacramento, Calif.), Ally Dutton (Granite Bay, Calif.), Erin Fleischli (San Mateo, Calif.), Colleen Hogan (Houston, Texas) and Aly O'Dea (Irvine, Calif.).
Looking to End the Skid - Dartmouth enters Saturday's game winless in its last five contests, its longest losing skid of the season. The Big Green are looking to end the season on a positive note. Dartmouth is undefeated in the last 16 meetings between the teams and has won each of the last six contests against the Big Red. The last time Cornell defeated Dartmouth was during the 1995 season.
Big Green Offense Looking for Goals - This season Dartmouth has scored a total of eight goals while allowing 25 goals. This season, Dartmouth is averaging 0.53 goals per game, the lowest goals per game average for the Big Green in the last four seasons.
Captain, My Captain - The Big Green have named three upperclassmen as captains for the 2011 season. Seniors Ally Dutton (Granite Bay, Calif.) and Erin Fleischli (San Mateo, Calif.) and junior Kim Rose (Seaford, N.Y.) will wear the captain's armband this season.
Looking at Cornell -- Cornell enters Saturday's contest with a 2-12-1, 0-5-1 Ivy league record after a 1-0 loss at Princeton last Saturday (Oct. 29). The Big Red is winless in its last five games, with its last win coming against Niagara on Sept. 25. The Big Green owns a 21-7-5 all-time record against Cornell and is undefeated in the last 16 meetings between the squads. Maneesha Chitanvis leads the Big Red offense with 12 points on five goals and two assists, while Xandra Hompe and Brook Chang each have added two goals this season. In the net for Cornell are Kelly Murphy and Megan Bartlett. The pair have split time in goal this season with Murphy owning a 1-6-0 record with a 1.89 goals against average and 35 saves while Bartlett has a 1-6-1 record with one shutout. Bartlett has a 2.05 goals against average and has made 45 saves on the season.
