KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Senior tri-captains Aurelia Solomon (Washington, D.C.) and Emma Brush (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.) were named to the Scholar All-East Region team it was announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Solomon earned a spot on the first-team while Brush was a second-team selection.
This is Solomon's second NSCAA Academic honor this season after earning third-team Academic All-America honors last week. Brush, who was named Academic All-Ivy for the second consecutive season, earns a spot on the All-Region squad for the first time.
Solomon continues to add to her honors this postseason. The first-team All-Ivy selection and College Sports Madness first-team All-Ivy selection, led Dartmouth to one of its finest seasons in program history. A stalwart on the Big Green backline, Solomon helped Dartmouth hold opponents to just 9.6 shots per game while allowing just 13 goals in 2012. Solomon and the Dartmouth defense averaged a 0.74 goals against average as a unit. Not only did the Geography major keep Dartmouth opponents off the board, she scored the game-winning goal in Dartmouth's 2-1 win over Penn (Oct. 13), which earned her Ivy League Player of the Week honors. In addition to All-Ivy League honors, Solomon was a second-team NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic Region selection
Brush also adds to her postseason accolades with the Scholar All-Region honor. The NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic Region selection led the team with 19 points on seven goals and five assists. Her five assists were tops for a Big Green player and her seven goals ranked second. Additionally, she led the squad with three game-winning goals. For her efforts, she was named Ivy League Player of the Week on Sept. 10. Brush was a first-team All-Ivy selection, her second consecutive All-Ivy honor.
Solomon and Brush led Dartmouth to a second-place finish in the Ivy League standings, its highest finish since the 2009 season. The Big Green also posted a nine-game turnaround from the 2011 season, the first under head coach Theresa Romagnolo.
