PRINCETON N.J. - Dartmouth freshman forward Corey Delaney (Chatham, N.J.) picked up her third Ivy League Rookie of the Week honor on Monday (Oct. 22) after posting an assist on the game-winning goal in Dartmouth's 1-0 win over Columbia on Saturday (Oct. 20). With the accolade, Delaney becomes Dartmouth's first-ever three-time Rookie of the Week selection.
This is the second consecutive week and the fourth week this season a Dartmouth player has earned Ivy League accolades. Aurelia Solomon (Washington, D.C.) claimed Player of the Week honor last week. Delaney joins teammates Emma Brush (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.) and Solomon as Big Green players to win the award. She also becomes the first Big Green player to win two Rookie of the Week honors since Chrissy Lozier (Fairfield, Conn.) in 2010.
The New Jersey native, tallied the assist on Tasha Wilkins' (Portland, Ore.) game-winning goal in Dartmouth's win over Columbia, which extends the Big Green's current win-streak to five consecutive games. Delaney also tallied a shot in Dartmouth's 2-1 win over Boston University on (Oct. 17).
Delaney, who has started each game this season, leads the team in assists with five helpers and ranks third in points with nine points on two goals and five assists.
The Big Green put their five-game winning streak on the line on Sunday (Oct. 28) when they host rival, Harvard, in the annual Homecoming game. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and the Big Green will honor the 2012 Senior Class with a short ceremony.
