Dartmouth basketball is now a family affair with the hiring of Paul Cormier’s third son, Chris, who spent the past two years as an assistant coach at Castleton State while working toward his master’s degree. He was involved in all aspects of the program, from recruiting to team travel to the planning of practices and film breakdown.

In addition to his coaching duties at CSC, he worked at the Hoop Group Elite Basketball Camp in the summer of 2011, plus has served as associate camp director of his father’s Mid-Cape Hoop School. Cormier also volunteered as the head coach of a youth basketball program in the town of Shrewsbury, Vt.

After helping Castleton State to a 15-12 record in his first year, Cormier was a part of the 19-10 squad that posted a 15-3 mark in league play last year while averaging nearly 93 points a game. The Spartans , featuring the NAC Player of the Year Mark Comstock, went on to win the North Atlantic Conference Tournament and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Cormier is a 2006 graduate of Roger Williams University with a degree in political science and history. As a member of the Hawks basketball team, he was a four-year starter and two-time captain, scoring 1,100 points and setting career records for steals and three-pointers made. Cormier was named to The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) All-Rookie Team and was All-TCCC as a junior.
