Assistant Coach-Nickels
Coach Info:
Position: Assistant Coach-Nickels
Alma Mater: St. Lawrence
Graduating Year: 2009
Experience: 3 Years

Bruno joined the Big Green staff in the summer of 2011 as the video coordinator and assistant director of football operations, and shortly thereafter took on the director’s job as well. In the spring of 2012, he was promoted to the nickelbacks coach while also serving as the assistant secondary coach.

His work with Mike Banaciski (sixth on the team in tackles) and rookie Frankie Hernandez helped Dartmouth have the stingiest pass defense in the Ivy League in 2012 year. Banaciski finished his career in 2013 ranking second on the squad with 64 tackles while forcing two fumbles and recovering another, and Hernandez followed up by ranking third on the team in tackles with an interception and a pair of sacks in 2014.

Before coming to Hanover, Bruno was on the coaching staff at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he simultaneously wore several hats. He started out as the video coordinator and running backs coach in 2009, then moved across the line as the defensive secondary coach for the spring. For his second year at WPI, he took on the role of director of football operations, and strength and conditioning coordinator, plus served as the assistant recruiting coordinator. Bruno then was assigned to coach the defensive line for the 2010 season as well as the special teams, which went on to block eight kicks. On top of all those duties, he also served as the head coach of the junior varsity.

Bruno is a 2009 graduate of St. Lawrence University with a degree in mathematics while minoring in government. He was a starting free safety for the Saints and was responsible for the calls and checks in multiple formations. The coaching bug caught him well before he graduated, helping out Staples High School in Westport, Conn., as a coach at off-season practices from 2006-2008.
