NEW YORK, N.Y. – Senior Nicola Zimmer and sophomore Daisy Jordan set  career-highs and the Dartmouth women’s basketball team scored a season-best as they defeated Columbia 82-75 on Friday evening at Levine Gym.

Zimmer led four players in double figures with 23 points. Jordan joined Zimmer in setting a new high with 19 points. Junior Abbey Schmitt chipped in 15 and classmate Milica Toskovic had 10.

The Big Green shot 61 percent from the field and made six three-point baskets. The team converted on 73% from the line.

Dartmouth led wire-to-wire for the first time this season and in the past two games trailed for just 26 seconds. Zimmer finished with five rebounds and five assists. 

The Big Green entered the final stanza with a 45-31 lead and continued to hold a double-digit lead until 2:45 when Tori Oliver hit a layup to cut the deficit to 74-65. Columbia would decrease Dartmouth advantage, but timely free throws by Zimmer and Toskovic preserved the win.

The Big Green scored and shot a season-best in the opening half with 45 points on 63 percent from the floor and 71 percent from the outside. Zimmer led the team with 13 points and Jordan chipped in 12 on 6-of-8 from the floor. The Green and White frontcourt dominated with 18 points in the paint and the trio of Roland, Jordan and Schmitt added 22 points.

Dartmouth led for all 20 minutes of play and led 8-1 off a triple by Zimmer with 17:17 left. The Green increased the lead to double digits on a Jordan jumper with 11:44 remaining. Columbia cut the deficit with a 10-2 run, but still trailed 20-17. Dartmouth took a 14-point lead, 38-24, with 3:50 left in the half on Jordan’s 12th point of the night.

Dartmouth will travel  to meet Cornell on Saturday evening at 6 pm.
