PRINCETON, N.J.- On the heels of her first career double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds against Princeton, Dartmouth women's basketball player Lakin Roland (Jeffersonville, Ind.) earned Ivy League co-Rookie of the Week honors. She shares the award with Harvard's Temi Fagbenle.
This is Roland's second career Rookie of the Week honor as she also won the award on Jan. 12 after a then-career best 13 points against Harvard. In all, Big Green players have won the award five times this season.
The Indiana native, who made her first career start against the Tigers, poured in 20 points and became the first Dartmouth player to score 20 points this season. She also had 12 rebounds, which marked her second game with double-figure rebounds this season and was one shy of her career-high. Roland also joins teammate Abbey Schmitt (Winnetka, Ill.) as players who have recorded a double-double in their first career start.
In the Big Green's game against Penn, Roland posted 10 points and four rebounds and has reached double figures in back to back games.
Roland has been a spark for the Big Green this season and is averaging 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds. Since the New Year, Roland has been scored in every game, reaching career highs in all offensive and defensive categories.
Dartmouth will close out the home slate against Cornell on Tuesday (March 5). The game, a makeup of a game that was postponed due to snowstorm Nemo, will tipoff at 6 p.m. at Leede Arena.
