HANOVER, N.H. – Senior Nicola Zimmer finished her Dartmouth career with 15 points and five rebounds, but Yale’s balanced offensive attack held off the Big Green with a 57-41 win on Senior Night at Leede Arena.
Sophomore Lakin Roland and freshman Fanni Szabo each scored nine points, but the squad shot 29.8 percent from the field. The Big Green held a minimal lead throughout the first half until Janna Graf nailed a three with 7:26 remaining to give the Bulldogs an 18-16 lead. Yale increased its lead late in the half and held an eight-point advantage heading into the locker room after a lay-in by Zenab Keita with 16 ticks remaining.
Dartmouth battled back in the second and cut the margin to a single-point after a trifecta by Zimmer at 14:26. Yale used an 11-2 run to take a double-digit lead, 42-32, with 10:34 remaining. The Bulldogs double figure edge increased the rest of the way and scored the final five points.
Graf led the team with 12 points and seven rebounds. Sarah Halejian had 11 and Whitney Wyckoff added 10. The Bulldogs shot 37.7 percent in the contest and scored 20 points in the paint.
Dartmouth outrebounded the visitors 36-34, but committed 24 turnovers with Yale answering back with 23 points off the miscues.
Dartmouth and first-year head coach Belle Koclanes finish the 2013-14 season with a 5-23 overall record. The Big Green will return 15 letterwinners, including Szabo, who led the team with 13.2 points per game.
