HANOVER, N.H. – Freshman Fanni Szabo claimed her second Ivy League Rookie of the Week award after scoring a career-high 33 points in a home loss to Providence last Monday evening, as announced by the league office.
Playing in just the second home game of her young career, Szabo once again scored in double figures, eclipsing the 30-point plateau in consecutive games. In her home debut against Vermont on Nov. 11, the Hungarian sharpshooter netted 31 points in the 66-62 win.
Against Providence, the freshman started out slow, scoring seven points in the opening frame, but exploded out of the gates in the second half with 26 points on 11-of-15 from the field and 4-of-6 from the outside. Szabo also added six steals, three rebounds and two assists to her game accolades.
The Big Green will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 1 when they take on American down in Washington, D.C. at 2 p.m. This will be the first meeting between both sides.
