Before Dartmouth: Played three years of varsity basketball for coach Frank Orlando at the national powerhouse Detroit Country Day ... As a senior, came back from a knee injury to lead Country Day to a repeat as Michigan Class B State Champions, going 26-1, losing just one game by one point ... Defeated previously unbeaten Grand Rapids Catholic, 50-40, in the state final ... Team also won its 12th-straight Class B Regional title her senior year ... Notable; Injured during the 2007-08 season when her team won its ninth state championship, Steen declined to accept a championship ring for that year ... Detroit Country Day players have excelled at Dartmouth including former first team All-Ivy honoree Katharine Hanks '03 ... Five members of Steen's DCD class are playing Division I basketball including three in the Ivy League.
