Bring out the brooms; they were needed by the Big Green last weekend.  Junior John Golden was instrumental in leading the men's basketball team to a sweep of  Penn and Princeton, while Katherine Yau swept both her single and doubles tennis matches to lead the women ot a 4-3 victory over Boston University.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Katherine Yau (Manhasset, N.Y.) So, Women's Tennis

Sophomore Katherine Yau won a pivotal match at No. 1 doubles to help the Dartmouth women's tennis team top Boston University, 4-3, last weekend. The Manhasset, N.Y., native was also victorious in singles play at the No 2 position. Yau won in straight sets for the second time this season. Through the Big Green's first two matches, the reigning second team All-Ivy performer is undefeated in both singles and doubles action.

John Golden  (Freehold, N.J.), Jr., Men's Basketball

Golden was a key player in the weekend sweep of Penn and Princeton, scoring 15 points while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds in the 67-58 victory over the Quakers, then tallying a season-high 19 points in the thrilling 78-69 overtime triumph against the Tigers. During one six-minute stretch of the second half versus Penn, Golden scored 11 of the Big Green’s 15 points, turning a two-point deficit into a 10-point lead from which Dartmouth would never look back. The next night, he got the game started by recording seven of Dartmouth's first nine points, and provided key moments throughout the game at both ends of the court.
