Andrew Towers, a former All-America selection, begins his fifth season as the head coach for Big Green men's lacrosse team and it will be his eighth year with the program.

In his first four seasons, he has had seven players with a total of 11 All-Ivy honors. Towers had three players named in 2010 (one first team and two second team), three in 2011 (one second team and two honorable mention), three in 2012 (one second team and two honorable mention) and two in 2013 (one second team and one honorable mention).

Last year, Towers led Dartmouth to a 3-11 record, including an upset victory against No. 9 Princeton in Hanover. The Big Green finished the season 3-4 at Scully-Fahey field.

In 2012, the Big Green went 5-9, including an upset at 19th-ranked Colgate, 9-6. Dartmouth finished the year winning three of its last four games.

In 2011, the Big Green went 5-9 with an upset over 17th-ranked Harvard, 9-8. Dartmouth also had a three-game winning streak early in the season.

In 2010, the team finished 5-8 overall and placed fifth in the Ivy League at 2-4. The highlight of the season came in an 8-6 win over sixth-ranked Cornell at the 2010 New England Lacrosse Classic.

Towers has enjoyed a 15-year career as a collegiate lacrosse coach. Prior to his five seasons with the Big Green, Towers spent the 2004 season as the head coach at the University of Hartford as the team recorded the highest team grade point average in the history of the program. His one-year stint with the Hawks was preceded by two years at Fairfield University as the assistant head coach as he helped guide the Stags to their first Great Western Lacrosse League Championship and first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Towers also had experience coaching in the Ivy League before arriving in Hanover, having served as an assistant for three years at Yale (1999-2001) as well as two seasons at his alma mater, Brown (1994 and ’96). In his first season on staff at Brown, the Bears won the Ivy League Championship and made its first and only appearance in the NCAA Lacrosse Final Four.

In 1995, Towers spent the year as the head coach at the Hackley School in New York, leading his squad to its first-ever league championship.

A 1994 graduate of Brown with a degree in organizational behavior and management, Towers was a two-time first team All-American and All-Ivy performer (1991 and ’93), while earning Ivy League Player of the Year honors in 1993 and leading the team to three appearances in the NCAA Tournament. He still holds the Brown records for goals scored in a season (59) and a career (150).

Towers continued his playing career in both the indoor and outdoor circuits. For five years he played in the Major Indoor Lacrosse League and National Lacrosse League, plus played two seasons in Major League Lacrosse, earning All-Star honors in 2002.

On the national level, Towers participated on the 19 and Under United States squad in 1988, and also twice was a Team USA tryout participant in 1993 and ’97.

Towers was the director of the Nike Lacrosse Camps in Darien, Conn., from 1999-2003 and is the founder of Lacrossedraws.com, a company that specializes in camps, clinics and speaking engagements.

Towers resides in Norwich, Vt., with his wife Carlene, daughter Tyler, son James and their dog, Clawed.
